SOCIAL SCIENCE

We are going to use the following  lessons to put into practice what we've learned about elections and democracy.

We are going to choose a class representative (delegado de clase) in both groups.

Today we are going to focus in describing the functions of this role and the personal qualities that candidates should show to acomplish those functions. 

• First we are going to discuss the functions that this role entitle.

• Next, we take 5 minutes to think about the personal traits that a candidate should show in order to be a good class representative. We write them on a paper. Then we discuss them with the person sitting next to us for three minutes. Finally we share them with the whole class and we write them on the whiteboard.

Once the functions and the qualities of a class representative have been presented, anyone who thinks can be a good candidate will announce it.

They fill in a nomination form

They must prepare a good candidate speech for tomorrow's lesson and try to persuade their classmates to vote for them. They need to Speeches and elections will take place tomorrow.

We will establish a polling station  (mesa electoral) in each class, formed by one teacher or language assistant and two random students (chosen by name sticks).

HOMEWORK

If you are candidate, you should prepare a 1-2 minute speech.
